Swinging Brake Bar for Rack
The Petzl® Swinging Brake Bar for RACK (D11250) is the hinged, hook-equipped brake bar for the Petzl® RACK caving and rope-access descender. It replaces the one bar on the RACK that swings open and latches the rope in place, for cavers, canyoneers, and rope-access technicians renewing a worn descender.
On the RACK, rope is threaded across a stack of bars on a stainless steel frame, and loading or unloading it is done by swinging the movable bars open on their hinge. This bar is the one built with a hook, so once the rope is threaded it can be latched closed to keep it captured on the frame through descents over 80 metres. Petzl sells the RACK's three bars individually so a technician can replace only the one worn by rope contact.

Common questions
What makes the Swinging Brake Bar (D11250) different?
The Petzl® Swinging Brake Bar for RACK (D11250) both swings open on a hinge and carries a hook; the Fixed Brake Bar (D11300) stays bolted in place, and the Brake Bar Without Hook (D11200) swings but has no hook.
What is the hook on the Swinging Brake Bar for?
The hook on the Petzl® Swinging Brake Bar for RACK latches the bar closed once the rope is threaded, so the rope stays captured on the frame for the descent.
Is the Swinging Brake Bar for RACK certified?
No – it is a spare part with no certification of its own, sold to maintain a properly functioning Petzl® RACK descender.
