When something goes wrong in a confined space, minutes matter, and untrained rescuers become the next casualty.
A large share of confined space fatalities are would-be rescuers who entered without training or a plan. This technician-level course prepares your team to respond fast and safely: the rescue side of confined space work, not just entry.
Is this training required?
Ontario's O. Reg. 632/05 requires employers to have on-site rescue procedures, including trained rescuers, the right equipment, and a written rescue plan, in place before any worker enters a confined space. Where in-house capability is not enough, a trained confined space rescue team fills that legal obligation.
Who should take it
- Industrial and site emergency response teams
- Mining, construction, and utility crews with confined space work
- Employers meeting the on-site rescue requirement under O. Reg. 632/05
- Fire services building technical rescue capability

Frequently asked questions
Does this course satisfy the O. Reg. 632/05 rescue requirement? It trains rescuers to the technician level. Your written confined space program must also include a space-specific rescue plan; we can build or validate one through our Rescue Planning service.
Can you provide standby rescue instead of training our team? Yes. If you would rather have qualified rescuers on-site for a specific job, see Standby Rescue.
How often should the team retrain? [Recertification interval]. Rescue skills fade without practice, so we recommend regular refresher drills.
