Exo® Eashook Open

The Petzl EXO® EASHOOK OPEN is a personal escape system for firefighters and rescuers, built around the EASHOOK OPEN carabiner as its anchor connector instead of the HOOK anchor used on the Petzl EXO® AP HOOK.

Firefighters use it to bail out from height when a fixed anchor cannot be guaranteed: the EASHOOK OPEN carabiner clips onto a structural anchor, and a self-braking descender lets the user give slack quickly, control the descent, and limit the force transmitted if they fall onto the system. The open directional point guides the rope and can be released for a short rope ascent by adding a Petzl TIBLOC clamp and FOOTAPE foot loop. Reference D030HA00, the configuration confirmed live on Petzl's Canadian site, ships with a 15 m aramid rope, an Am'D connector with CAPTIV bar, and the fire-resistant carry bag.

• 7.5 mm static aramid fibre rope resists abrasion and high heat

Common questions

Does the EXO® EASHOOK OPEN carry an NFPA rating like the EXO® AP HOOK?

No: Petzl certifies the EXO® EASHOOK OPEN to EN 341 type D, not NFPA 2500, which is what Petzl lists for the EXO® AP HOOK instead.

What is different between D030HA00, D030JA00 and D030JA01?

Petzl's Canadian page confirms only D030HA00, a 15 m system with the carry bag; D030JA00 is documented by third-party dealers as the same system without the bag, and D030JA01 could not be independently confirmed, so confirm bag inclusion before ordering.

Can it be ordered with a longer rope?

Yes, Petzl states that different rope lengths are available by special order beyond 15 m.
