Stop
The Petzl STOP is an assisted-braking descender built for caving, with an ergonomic handle and stainless steel friction zones for durability on repeated trips.
Cavers use the STOP on low-stretch kernmantle ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm in diameter, where the assisted braking gives more control over descent speed than a manual figure-eight or simple descender, and the handle-actuated camming mechanism makes it easier to manage rope maneuvers when passing intermediate anchors. The handle faces the user for better control of rope glide during descent, and an openable side plate with a safety gate lets the rope be installed without fully disconnecting the device from the harness. A stainless steel pulley and cam are built for durability across repeated use.
