Version

The Petzl PANTIN Webbing Strap is the replacement strap for the PANTIN foot ascender, the compact device rope access technicians, arborists, and rescue teams strap to a boot to convert leg movement into upward progress on rope. Over time the strap that anchors the PANTIN's aluminum body to the foot wears from flexing, boot contact, and abrasion, and Petzl sells it separately so a worn PANTIN does not need to be replaced outright.

Because the PANTIN foot ascender comes in matched right-foot and left-foot versions, the webbing strap does too: order the version that matches the PANTIN you own rather than assuming either strap fits either foot. Fitting a replacement is a simple job at the PANTIN body, done on site.

Common questions

Are the two Pantin Webbing Strap references interchangeable?

No. The Petzl PANTIN Webbing Strap comes in two references, B002FA00 for the right-foot PANTIN and B002FA01 for the left-foot PANTIN, matching the two hand versions the PANTIN foot ascender itself is sold in.

What is the PANTIN foot ascender used with?

The Petzl PANTIN foot ascender is used in conjunction with a CROLL, ASCENSION, or BASIC handled ascender, letting a climber convert foot movement into rope progress while a second ascender manages the connection to the harness.

Is the PANTIN foot ascender classified as PPE?

No. Petzl states that the PANTIN foot ascender is not an item of personal protective equipment; PPE certification in the ascent system comes from the rope, harness, and handled ascenders used alongside it.
