Gradistep
The Petzl GRADISTEP is a lightweight five-step etrier used for aided progression on rope, in overhangs, and on sections of a climb that cannot be free climbed.
Rope access technicians and climbers clip the GRADISTEP to a Petzl ASCENSION handled ascender for stepping up a fixed rope, or attach it directly to an anchor to bridge an overhanging or blank section of a route. Its integrated pouch keeps the five webbing steps tangle-free for racking on a harness gear loop between uses, and a Petzl STRING keeps a carabiner seated in the top attachment point and protects that loop from abrasion.

Common questions
Is the Petzl GRADISTEP a rope clamp?
No, the Petzl GRADISTEP is a five-step etrier (a webbing ladder), not a mechanical rope clamp; it is designed to attach to a rope clamp such as the Petzl ASCENSION, or directly to an anchor, rather than to grip the rope on its own.
What is the GRADISTEP made from, and how much does it weigh?
The Petzl GRADISTEP weighs 146 g and is made from polyester webbing, in a black/gray colourway.
Does the GRADISTEP come with its own carabiner?
No, the Petzl GRADISTEP is supplied with a Petzl STRING to hold a carabiner the user supplies separately at the top attachment point; it does not include a carabiner.
