Is this training required?

Standard Child Care First Aid is designed to meet provincial childcare legislation and licensing requirements, so completing it satisfies the first-aid and CPR obligations attached to your licence. If you are an early childhood educator, run a licensed daycare, or operate a day home, this is the certification your licensing body expects you to hold. Certification is valid for three years, after which recertification keeps the credential current.

How is this different from Emergency Child Care First Aid? Standard Child Care First Aid is the comprehensive, two-day (16-hour) option and is the certification most licensed settings require. The one-day Emergency Child Care First Aid course is a shorter alternative that covers core skills. Check your licensing requirements, or ask us, before choosing between them.

My certification is expiring. Do I have to repeat the full two days? No. Once you hold a valid Standard Child Care First Aid certificate, you can renew through the 8-hour recertification course instead of repeating the full 16-hour program.

Does this course include CPR? Yes. Standard Child Care First Aid includes CPR Level B, which covers resuscitation techniques for both children and babies.
