Intermediate First Aid & CPR

(formerly Standard First Aid & CPR)

The comprehensive workplace first-aid certification Ontario employers rely on, WSIB-recognized and valid for three years.

If you run a shift with six or more workers, WSIB Regulation 1101 requires a certified Intermediate First Aid responder on site. Over 13 instructional hours, this course gives your people the skills and the certification to meet that obligation and to act with confidence when an emergency happens.

Naming update: As of June 22, 2026, WSIB aligned first-aid training with CSA Z1210:24 and renamed Standard First Aid to "Intermediate First Aid." Existing Standard First Aid certificates remain valid until their expiry date.

Is this training required?

Yes, for many workplaces. Under WSIB Regulation 1101, any Ontario workplace with six or more workers on a shift must have a certified Intermediate First Aid responder on site. This course meets that requirement. Certification is valid for three years, after which recertification is required to keep it current.
