It builds high-quality, team-based CPR skills for both pre-hospital and in-facility settings. Certified through the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, BLS has replaced CPR Level HCP as the paramedic-industry standard, and Siren Safety delivers it in Sudbury.
Is this training required?
BLS is not a general workplace mandate. It is the professional-level CPR credential expected of healthcare providers and trained first responders whose roles require it. Where a general workplace only needs Standard or Emergency First Aid with CPR, clinical and pre-hospital roles are held to the BLS standard: paramedic services, hospitals and care facilities, fire services, and industrial response teams commonly require it as a condition of the job. If your certification, employer, or regulatory college calls for the healthcare-provider level of CPR, BLS is the course that meets it. Certification is valid for one year, after which recertification is required.
