spirit-express
Spirit Express

The Petzl SPIRIT EXPRESS is a lightweight, non-locking sport-climbing quickdraw built from two SPIRIT carabiners joined by an ergonomic EXPRESS sling with a STRING protector, sold in three lengths to suit different routes.

Climbers use the Petzl SPIRIT EXPRESS to build a quickdraw rack for the crag or a multi-pitch route: a straight-gate SPIRIT carabiner clips into a bolt or protection piece with a firm grip, while a bent-gate SPIRIT carabiner on the rope end speeds up clipping on lead. The Keylock nose on each carabiner resists snagging on a bolt hanger, gear loop or rope, and the flat carabiner spine gives a stable grip for pinch-clipping. The STRING sling protector keeps each carabiner correctly oriented on the sling, and the sling itself is shaped to fit the hand for a quick, reliable grab. The Petzl SPIRIT EXPRESS is a non-locking, sport-climbing quickdraw and is not sold as a Petzl Professional connector.

Key features

Straight-gate SPIRIT carabiner (21 mm gate opening) at one end, bent-gate SPIRIT carabiner (24 mm gate opening) at the other

Keylock system on both carabiners to avoid snagging on a bolt hanger, gear loop or rope

Flat carabiner spine for a stable grip when pinch-clipping

Ergonomic EXPRESS sling shaped to fit the hand, with a STRING protector to maintain carabiner orientation

Available in three lengths — 12 cm, 17 cm and 25 cm — to help manage rope drag

Specifications

Weight: 12 cm (M061AC00) 92 g; 17 cm (M061AC01) 99 g; 25 cm (M061AC02) 107 g

Material(s): aluminum carabiners, nylon sling, TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) STRING

Certification(s): carabiners — CE EN 12275 type B, UIAA; sling — CE EN 566, UIAA

Works with

The Petzl SPIRIT carabiner, EXPRESS sling and STRING M protector (pack of 10), each sold separately as a replacement part

Common questions

What lengths does the SPIRIT EXPRESS quickdraw come in?

The Petzl SPIRIT EXPRESS is available in three lengths — 12 cm (reference M061AC00, 92 g), 17 cm (M061AC01, 99 g) and 25 cm (M061AC02, 107 g) — to help manage rope drag on different routes.

Is the SPIRIT EXPRESS quickdraw suitable for fall-protection or rescue use?

No: the Petzl SPIRIT EXPRESS carabiners are certified to CE EN 12275 type B and UIAA, and the sling to CE EN 566 and UIAA, for climbing use; it carries no ANSI or CSA fall-protection connector rating on Petzl's Canadian site, so professionals needing a certified Professional connector should choose one such as the Bm'D.

What carabiner gate configuration does the SPIRIT EXPRESS use?

The Petzl SPIRIT EXPRESS pairs a straight-gate SPIRIT carabiner (21 mm gate opening) for racking and clipping into protection with a bent-gate SPIRIT carabiner (24 mm gate opening) for faster rope clipping, joined by the ergonomic EXPRESS sling.
