quick-link-n5-standard-steel
Quick Link N5 Standard Steel

The Petzl® MAILLON RAPIDE® N° 5 is a galvanized steel quick link built to connect a haul-bag retrieval system to the slot in the Petzl® FIFI hook. It is intended for big-wall and aid climbers who need a simple, screw-locking connection point rather than a full load-bearing carabiner.

The quick link's collar attaches to the FIFI hook's slot, where it can move freely, so a hauled load can be retrieved cleanly from above without the rope or lanyard snagging on the hook body. Aid climbers thread a lightweight retrieval cord or tagline through the MAILLON RAPIDE® N° 5 to pull the FIFI's connection back down once the leader has moved on, keeping the hook free for the next placement. Screwing the collar fully closed before loading keeps the link secure through repeated hauls.

Key features

Oval-style quick link with a screw-locking collar for a semi-permanent connection

Sized to fit directly into the FIFI hook's connection slot

Moves freely in the slot so a retrieval line runs smoothly

Galvanized steel construction resists corrosion in outdoor use

Specifications

Material(s): Galvanized steel

Works with

Petzl® FIFI hook – the MAILLON RAPIDE® N° 5 is the quick link Petzl specifies for installing a retrieval system on the FIFI's slot, letting a hauled load or tagline be pulled back down from above

Common questions

What is the Petzl MAILLON RAPIDE N° 5 used for?

The Petzl® MAILLON RAPIDE® N° 5 is a quick link used to install a retrieval system on the Petzl® FIFI hook, so a haul bag or tagline can be pulled back down from above once a pitch is led.

Is the MAILLON RAPIDE N° 5 a certified climbing connector?

Petzl Canada does not list a PPE certification for the MAILLON RAPIDE® N° 5 on its Canadian product page; it is sold as a spare/accessory connector for building a retrieval system, not as a life-safety carabiner.

What material is the MAILLON RAPIDE N° 5 made from?

The Petzl® MAILLON RAPIDE® N° 5 is made from galvanized steel, matching the FIFI hook it is designed to attach to.
